I studied healing plants with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in the 1980s and worked as a herbalist and teacher of plant medicine for many years. Concerns about the environment then led me to study for a BSc in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Plant Biogeography and I worked for a time as a university lecturer.
Further research and personal experience have inspired me to explore the ways in which we can restore well-being and balance to our lives by interacting and engaging with plants on a deeper level. My focus has now returned to the healing potential of plants, particularly through the use of flower and plant essences.
For the last seven years I've undertaken a journey with plant essences in order to work with my own feelings of grief and to find ways in which I can be of service to others. Through consciously connecting with aspects of the natural world I am convinced that we can initiate a cycle of personal growth and healing.
My training has included the study of a wide range of flower essences and energy-based healing modalities, and I incorporate elements of eastern medicine and plant spirit medicine into the support I provide. For example, I’ve found that the chakra and meridian systems are valuable maps for exploring the emotions, beliefs and past issues that may need to be released. I also approach healing from a grounded perspective - guiding clients to explore the ways in which feelings and beliefs can become part of our physical experience of life.
I continue to personally use all these techniques to smooth life transitions, receive gentle healing in times of grief and loss and find new directions.
I believe that we owe it to ourselves to continue exploring our potential and opening up new possibilities at all ages of life.
